‘Bloom’ Stepper Card Tutorial with Free Template30th April 2019
We were so inspired by the gorgeous florals in the ‘Bloom’ die and stamp set included in Simply Cards & Papercraft 191. The stunning 14-piece stamp set and 5-piece coordinating dies filled our heads with so many ideas. In the end, we created a springtime stepper card using pink and coral hues. Stepper cards are the perfect card because there’s various ways to decorate the panels and they are a fun alternative to the traditional tent-fold card. Also they’re collapsible and you can mail them flat to a friend, loved one, or a penpal! The best part of this stepper card is that we used a free download on the Simply Cards Mag blog! Download your free stepper card template here!
Downloadable card templates are so helpful. The stepper card template includes the cut lines and score lines for creating your card. It’s so easy! If you’ve never downloaded a printable, no worries! Check out our helpful step-by-step guide to digital paper downloads. Making a stepper card from scratch requires precise measurements and dimensions, but with the template, you can simply cut out your template then trace it onto your cardstock. We provided some additional, helpful tips in the video tutorial, so don’t miss it.
Our favourite part of this project is decorating the panels! We did some tone-on-tone repeat stamping by using a pink ink on our coral paper. We stamped our blooms right off the page with Nuvo Hybrid Ink in the colour, Panama Rose. We also distressed the edges of our stamped panels with our Tim Holtz Paper Distresser. It’s great for giving a weathered and torn edge to your mat and layers, plus it adds interest and character to your makes.
Here are the dimensions for the mats if you’d like to add these identical layers to your stepper card base:
Centre mat (largest)-7.8cm x 10.5cm
Side panel mats (you’ll need 2)-2.7cm x 10.5cm
Bottom strip mat-1.7cm x 14 cm
