Super-cute cards to celebrate new babies

18th June 2018

It’s not long until issue 179 of SCP hits the shelves, and to celebrate we thought we’d share with you one more bonus card from issue 178 with you. Sarah Gray completed her first-ever Sketch Challenge inside issue 178 with a striking collection of cards for new babies using one sketch as a starting point. We loved her makes, and we couldn’t resist keeping this extra idea to post exclusively here for you…

Welcome to the world

Simply make

white 13.5cm-square card blank

white paper

blue, yellow & pale grey cardstock

My Favorite Things Welcome Baby stamp set

black VersaFine inkpad

Squeezed Lemonade Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink

manual die-cutting machine

circle nesting dies

Memory Box Precious Mobile die

Simply make

1 Die-cut a circle from white paper and use it as a stencil with the Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink to create a soft circle.

2 Cut the mobile die from grey, yellow and blue cardstock, use the pale grey mobile as the base and adhere coloured elements onto it.

3 Stamp the ‘WELCOME to the world’ sentiment directly in the top corner of the card front to finish.

Top tip

It is simple to make your own stencil by die-cutting an aperture from white paper – using thin paper will help give a more crisp finish than inking through cardstock
