Craft a pretty feminine birthday card with Marianne Designs

10th November 2017

Kim Macfarlane from Buddly Crafts used Marianne Design goodies to create this striking idea for female birthdays…

It’s your day

You will need

  • Marianne Design Winter Dream Pink Cutting Sheet & paper pad
  • Marianne Design Creatables Petra’s Circle with Bird dies
  • Marianne Design Birthday Wishes stamps
  • white Papicolor cardstock
  • white Buddly Crafts Lace Satin Bridal ribbon
  • pearl
  • London Fog & Sahara Sand Memento inkpads

Simply make
1 Die-cut and emboss two white panels, on one panel score a horizontal line 2.5cm from the top edge. Glue the two panels together within the scored area to create the tent card.
2 Using the inner panel die, draw around the outer edges onto the wolf illustration. Hand-cut all areas that extend beyond the die, position the die back onto the illustration and slip the feathers over the top of the die before die-cutting. Ink the edges of the panel.
3 Stamp the greeting onto the illustration and attach to the card with foam pads. Die-cut the small flowers from the pink papers and attach, embellishing with flat-back pearls.
4 Die-cut the inner circle panel from patterned paper, ink the edges, trim and attach to the inside of the card. Cut a small deco design from the cutting sheet and attach to the back of the card.

Even better, for all of her makes Kim packages them in gorgeous boxes rather than just normal envelopes – and we love this idea! The recipient will really love the extra effort! Don’t forget all of the supplies can be bought from buddlycrafts.com

Greeting card boxes

  • Marianne Design Winter Dream paper pad
  • white cardstock
  • white Buddly Crafts Lace Satin Bridal ribbon
  • Knorr Prandell Guinea Fowl Feathers
  • Buddly Crafts charms & pearl embellishments
  • London Fog & Sahara Sand Memento inkpad
  • EK Success 0.75” circle punch

Simply make
1 Measure the finished card and add 3mm to this measurement. Add another 2cm for the small shallow boxes or 40mm to the deeper boxes. This will be the box base.

2 The box lid should measure 3mm more than the base. Cut out two squares to measure the same as the card front.
3 For the shallow box, score 1cm inside the outer edges of the square on all four sides. For a deeper box, score 2cm from the outer edges.
4 Cut along the score line to the intersecting point for each of the corners. This will make the gluing tabs to assemble the boxes.
5 Measure and cut decorative panels for the box lids and sides of the deeper boxes. Ink the edges and secure to the base.
6 Use a small circle punch to cut semicircle thumb grips from the two sides of the box lids.
7 Glue the boxes together and cut a patterned paper square to line the base box. Decorate with ribbons, tags and pearls to finish.
